College Visits!

Some of my most enjoyable father-daughter time was when we visited colleges! We visited 8 colleges in 5 states! We visited Ohio State, Indiana, Syracuse, Cornell, Bucknell, Babson, Bentley and Boston College. You narrowed those down to Ohio State, Indiana, Bucknell, Babson and Syracuse. You were accepted by all and earned honors admission to both IU and OSU. It came down to Bucknell and Syracuse. You and I, just the two of us, visited these two schools. You finally decided on Syracuse after attending an academic fair at the school. Syracuse awarded you a President's Scholarship (which helped greatly financially) You had a dual major (business and retail). You graduated, with honors, Summa Cum Laude, with special recognition from the Whitman Business School! The Dean even referenced you in his commencement speech! With all of your academic success you had a strong group of friends who graduated with you! They are pictured below.
It is interesting to note that all of these girls except Christina (who was too pregnant at the time to attend) were in your spectacular wedding! Mom and I are very proud of you and your achievements!

The flowers are headed to "the Island!"

A few weeks ago we received the flowers!
Mom, literally, worked for a couple of weeks, spray painting them gold in the garage. This time, thank goodness, after moving the cars out!
Then she stored them in the house to dry properly!
Today after weeks of cardboard boxes and gold flowers all over the place they are gone. Mom packed them up and I took them to the post office and sent them to your florist on Block Island!
Cross this task off your list!

Aunt Tiz

Friday was your Aunt Tiz's birthday!
Despite living in Florida she has remained an active force in your life. She attended both your high school and college graduations and all the "family gatherings". She and her husband David gave you a generous stipend of spending money each month that you were at Syracuse, which greatly added to the quality of your life during these years.

You might not know this but Tiz was a great athlete. She was a first team All-County selection in both soccer and softball (an honor I never received).

About the picture: This is Tiz and I at Bob and Deb's RU-SU football game tailgate party a number of years ago, the same weekend as Uncle Fred's (Bob and Rich's dad) funeral. You came to the tailgate with a whole bunch of SU people. We won't say who won the game.

Bachelorette Day 2

Last night we received this picture of you and Allison!
Mom commented back to both of you how lucky Brian and Jared were to have two such beautiful women for their wives. I'm the lucky one, because I have had you both forever! You will always, at least partially, be my girls. This morning when I woke up and looked at my phone there was a travel dispatch from the New York Times. Nantucket was featured as a 36 hour getaway. They mentioned The Cru first among restaurants and compared it to a restaurant in St. Tropez. I sent the article to you and Allison. It had some interesting shopping highlighted. They also mentioned "The Whaling Museum." It sounded interesting but probably not a bachelorette party favorite. Here is the agenda for today: Saturday the 6th ========== it’s a beautiful morning TO MONSTER! ========== free time: exercise solo, choose a class (incl. in hotel stay!) or mow down on some grub CLASS OPTIONS: 9:00 a.m. Vinyasa Yoga at The Nantucket Club 10:00 a.m. Fit Fusion at The Nantucket Club ========== DAY: Beach & Bubbles ========== attire: bathing suit (duh), top half of beach outfit will be provided. 11:15 a.m. Leave for Beach lounge, splash, sip, lunch beachside 4:00/4:30 p.m. return from beach brush the sand off, get ready for nighttime shenanigans ========== EVENING EVENTS: Let’s Get Nauti ========== attire: embrace the spirit of Nantucket with your most nautical, preppy outfit 5:30 p.m./6:00 p.m. Drinks at Galley beach 8:15 p.m. dinner at Slip 14 10:00 p.m. Chicken Box I really like the exercise options! I have added 3 days of yoga class to my routine. It was recommended that it will help with my soreness from TRX. Mom is doing her yoga/pilates class now. Who knows you may even cross namastes! Have fun and enjoy! Ready for the beach!

Bachelorette Day 1

Well today is the start of your Bachelorette Weekend at the beautiful Nantucket Hotel!
The drink of choice is not water!
The theme is "MONSTER MASH, Nauti in Nantucket" Complete with t-shirts
Here are the planned events for Friday Night! ========== EVENING EVENTS: Sparkle Party ========== attire: wear something sparkly - whether it is gold, sequins, sparkly shoes... whatever is your version of sparkle is fair game! 7:30 p.m. Welcome drinks at NAUTILUS 9:15 p.m. dinner at Cru 11:00 p.m. Drinks at Gazebo. Here is a picture of the towels before Mom sent them.
Was everyone surprised? Here are some pictures from the first day! Jared's parents stayed at the Jared Coffin house on their honeymoon and I think that's where Jared got his name from. Mom and I had dinner here when we visited the second time. I also lost my wallet there and they found it. I think your Mom and I went to college with a member of the Coffin family (Wendy Coffin)
Enjoy!

The Piano

"No education of a proper young lady would be complete without music." So you too, took piano lessons from our neighbor and good friend Helen Franko!
In elementary school through middle school you worked the Suzuki method. In this method you were taught to play by learning classical pieces such as "Minuet in G." Each year would conclude with a recital.
You even composed your own song! Do you remember? "Hershey is a Very Fat Dog!" This was your introduction to music, and you also sang. In Sunday School, during elementary school, you sang and participated in the Christmas pageants. In middle school you also sang in the chorus as well as the small vocal ensemble. Will you have a piano in your home?
